NVR in Denmark

New Authority and Non-Violent Resistance in family therapy was first introduced in Denmark in 2007 by Professor Haim Omer at the seminar “Out of Control” in Helsingor. The seminar was organized by Rikke Lyngdam and Mikkel Borg Rasmussen from Nordic Interventions (www.nordicinterventions.com), and they have since organized several seminars and workshops with Haim Omer and Idan Amiel in Denmark.
The approach is spreading and many professionals, who work with children and adolescents in Denmark, are finding that NVR and the New Authority has “filled a hole” in providing them with some very pragmatic therapeutic possibilities. These possibilities are especially relevant when working with parents or professionals who experience powerlessness in regards to the extreme negative behavior of children and adolescents. Now several institutions and centers in Denmark work with a specific focus on these approaches, for instance: Rymarksvænge Youth Home, Sønderbro, Løvdalscenteret, PIFT Gladsaxe, and several family centers, public schools and special schools.

Tilgangen vinder frem og mange behandlere der arbejder med børn og unge i Danmark oplever at NVR og New authority har udfyldt “et hul”, ved at tilbyde dem nogle meget konkrete teraputiske muligheder. Disse muligheder er særligt relevante i mødet med forældre og professionelle der føler sig afmægtige overfor børn og unge der udviser ekstrem og destruktiv adfærd. Flere centre og institutioner arbejder målrettet med disse tilgange. Fx Rymarksvænge ungdomspension, Sønderbro, Løvdalcenteret, PIFT Gladsaxe, og flere familiehuse, folkeskoler og specialskoler.
